ProSiebenSat.1 Digital and LINE Corporation launch mobile live streaming app in Germany

Munich/Tokyo, September 4, 2017. ProSiebenSat.1 Digital and LINE Corporation, the leading mobile platform based in Tokyo, are cooperating to launch LINE LIVE, a new mobile live streaming platform in Germany. The new user-generated content app LINE LIVE caters to the trend among the young target group aged 17+ of sharing their lives with the world in live streams and being rewarded for this with “gift items” such as unicorns or hearts. Launched on December 10, 2015 in Japan, LINE LIVE managed to surpass 350 million aggregate views in just its first six months. The service is especially popular among the young audience, and continues to grow at an aggressive pace, with over 24 million monthly active users in Japan.
The platform is financed based on the fact that gift items are given to the content creator using “coins.” The global technology specialist LINE Corporation is the market leader in Asia with its LINE messenger service and more than 200 million monthly active users. The company’s mobile applications are available in 230 countries/regions and 19 languages. Plans to expand the LINE LIVE cooperation to European level are currently being developed.

Awareness driving influencer campaign for the launch
For the launch, the two companies started a wide reaching influencer campaign. Within the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, support will be provided by Studio71 and Starwatch Entertainment. Around 70 YouTube, Studio71 and Starwatch influencer talents, including Lisa and Lena, who have one of the fastest-growing fan bases on the internet, are calling on viewers to get in contact with them via LINE LIVE. The twin sisters already started with a trip to Asia, where they reported on LINE LIVE in real time from Tokyo and Seoul. The trip was for a good cause, too. All of the gifts sent to Lisa and Lena by fans during the trip, such as hearts and unicorns, have been donated to a children’s daycare center in Romania.
