ProSiebenSat.1 Acquires Majority in Social-Advertising Company esome

Munich/Hamburg, December 5, 2017 – ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE is acquiring a majority in esome advertising technologies, the leading social-advertising provider in the DACH region. The company, based in Hamburg, bundles the technology and the management of social media campaigns on all social networks, especially Facebook, for advertisers. In the future, the technology will also be used for the KPI-based optimization of display, video and later for addressable TV. The company is an addition to the portfolio of ad-tech investments that ProSiebenSat.1 bundles at Advertising Platform Solutions. The acquisition is subject to approval by the responsible cartel authorities.

esome unites proprietary technology and comprehensive customer support under one roof. On the basis of KPIs, esome optimizes campaigns on social networks in order to implement its customers’ advertising activities as successfully and efficiently as possible. Over 200 national and international companies, including around half of the businesses listed on the DAX, already rely on esome’s expertise.

Personnel expansion in the ad-tech segment

In response to the growth of the business area, ProSiebenSat.1 is expanding the ad-tech management team: Jana Eisenstein will join Advertising Platform Solutions as Executive Vice President on January 1, 2018. She will manage the business of this dynamic growth area together with Jens Mittnacht. Jana Eisenstein has profound expertise in the digital sector acquired over many years, most recently as Managing Director for the EMEA region at the advertising technology company Videology. With the expanded management team, ProSiebenSat.1 Advertising Platform Solutions is in an optimum position to steadily advance its internationalization and future technologies like addressable TV.

ProSiebenSat.1’s other investments and activities in the ad-tech sector, which it bundles at Advertising Platform Solutions, include the German ad-tech holding company Virtual Minds, the video advertising network SMARTSTREAM.TV, the content marketplace glomex and—subject to review by antitrust authorities—the influencer marketing platform buzzbird. The Group is also steadily advancing the internationalization of the sector, for instance via the European joint venture EBX.
