Climate and environmental protection is an increasingly important aspect of film and TV productions. With the "Sauber gedreht!" initiative, the Seven. One Entertainment Group launched an extensive catalog of measures in 2019 to become greener in productions. A total of 14 goals were formulated for ecologically sustainable TV and film productions. The catalog of measures provides production companies with concrete recommendations for action to reduce CO2 emissions and protect resources. Four fields of action have been defined for this purpose:
- avoidance/reduction of CO2 emissions.
- protection of our natural resources
- avoidance of environmentally harmful substances and poisons
- reduction of plastic and waste in general
The commitment of the film and TV industry is also demonstrated by the joint industry declaration for sustainability in film and series production. In addition to ProSiebenSat.1, numerous other industry representatives signed this declaration in February 2020 at the invitation of the State Ministry for Culture and Media in Berlin. The declared aim is to put sustainability more firmly on the agenda in the future and to focus on ecologically as well as economically and socially responsible action.
Members of the "Green Shooting" task force, which also includes ProSiebenSat.1, will thus realise a collaborative sustainability initiative in 2020 and 2021. The voluntary commitment of various companies from the film and television industry is about producing at least 100 films and television productions sustainably by 2021 as part of the common project "100 Green Productions". In addition to MFG, the most important German film companies and institutions of German film production are members of the "Green Shooting" task force, which was founded by MFG Baden-Württemberg in 2017.
